Who They Are
DUXTON Windows & Doors is a family business dedicated to manufacturing high-performance windows and doors. The company was founded in 1999 and is based in Winnipeg.
Duxton Windows & Doors approached us to help them re-design and re-develop their website. The previous website wasn’t mobile friendly and took an excessively long time to load, especially in the products section, which is the heart and soul of Duxton’s website. Duxton has a lot to showcase with multiple levels of nested products which weren’t being captured properly. The navigation was confusing and there was no flow to the websites functionality, either for the viewer or website administrators.
Our Solution
After looking carefully at the existing site we realized that a complete redo was required. We started with a wireframe that outlined the entire structure of the proposed website. This helped define all the distinct areas required and showed how the navigation would work.
We wanted to ensure that navigation was simple and easy-to-use.
There was a large amount of material in both the window and door areas so it was important to clearly guide users to where they wanted to be. Within the wireframe was a complete re-development of the product areas so they were more logically displayed and aligned to the required product information.
We made sure that all content and imagery was optimized to avoid the loading issues they had experienced on their old site. Once we finished the visual design, including for mobile devices, we put together a customized WordPress solution. The administration area allows Duxton to make day-to-day updates internally including adding new products, posting blog articles and updating photo galleries.
We also implemented a robust Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy focused around their core products and the regions they are targeting.
